Train Accidents- Liability Limits

On May 12, 2015, a major train crash left eight people dead and over two hundred injured. An article from the New York Times discusses these devastating accidents and tells about a couple who experienced the accident first hand. The woman, Kathryn Varnum, only 33 years-old is confined to a wheel chair after multiple fractures. She has already incurred over $200,000 in medical bills and this number will only rise with time and continuing care.

Trucking Collisions Are Different From Car Crashes

Basic physics explains that large heavy objects moving at high speed need more distance to stop than smaller, lighter objects. Otherwise, the large heavy object can damage or destroy the smaller object. This isn't only true in the classroom, it is very true in real life, especially on our streets and highways.

Premises Liability- Do I Have a Case?

Every person I talk to naturally assumes that if they go to a store and are injured while shopping there, that the store is automatically responsible for their medical bills and injuries. In reality, these types of cases are often some of the hardest to prove. There are many cases where the store should be held responsible, and many cases where they just aren't at fault. So, how do you know if you really have a claim?

Many Different Ways Medical Errors Can Occur

A friend recently asked me, "What is the most common medical mistake you see?" The truth is, there are many, many ways people are harmed in our health care system. It is difficult to believe, but medical mistakes kill and injure hundreds of thousands of people a year. We've seen errors occur in many different ways. Most of the time, the mistakes can be attributed to either the doctor being in a hurry or medical staff not having proper training and oversight.

IU Health Under Fire for False Claims to Government and Risks to Pregnant Women

A former high ranking employee of IU Health has come forward and filed a lawsuit alleging that the largest healthcare provider in Indiana has put profits over the care provided to low income patients. Dr. Judith Robinson was fired from her position as medical director of OB/GYN services at HealthNet and IU Health Methodist Hospital. She alleges that these medical facilities have been pocketing tens of millions of extra dollars from the government while causing permanent harm to pregnant women and their children.

Premises Liability Injuries

Premises liability injuries are responsible for over 1 million emergency room visits per year. These cases often occur when people go into stores such as Wal-Mart and either slip on an unattended wet spot on the floor or trip over a pallet or product display left in the wrong place. Naturally, many people believe that if they fall and are injured on someone else's property that the property owner is automatically at fault. However, that is not the case.
